Hobbes and Bacon by Tom & Dan at pants are overrated
Toms’ comments: “As for why someone would name their daughter Bacon? Well, my niece acquired the nickname Bacon over the years, and Francis Bacon was another old philosopher along with Calvin and Hobbes, so it seemed like a good name – plus, if anyone would name his daughter Bacon, it would be Calvin.”
I didnt miss this when it made the Internet Rounds a week or so ago, I just chose not to post it…. until now. Mostly because I didnt see any sources posted for it (and most sites were just publishing single panels), but I found it myself tonight and was impressed with the reasoning behind the name “Bacon”. I was already planning on naming my own clone this after the delicious food material, but this is a good alternate.

Public Proposal of the Day: So the story is (ostensibly) this: Matt wanted to ask his girlfriend Ginny to marry him. So he arranged for her to be taken to see Fast Five in movie theater filled with her friends and family (unbeknownst to her). During the previews, a different sort of trailer aired: One in which Matt is shown asking Ginny’s dad for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
Long story short, she said yes. And the 100 strangers in attendance were rewarded with being the first people to ever get their money’s worth at a screening of a Fast and Furious sequel.

“We have this desire to protect and take care of babies. Babies are cute. We all love babies. But this feeling extends to babies of other species: baby lions, baby dolphins, baby alligators, baby bears, baby anything. So it must be deeper than just having the urge to take care of our own young. Perhaps it’s the realization that babies of all species are existing in their purest state. Innocence. They have not been hardened by the world yet. And for us, it’s nostalgic because we went through it. And we want to go back to it. A baby wolf is the cutest thing in the world because it’s not worried about survival. It’s only driven by curiosity. The baby wolf changes when its mother, already hardened by survival, teaches it how to kill. And I think we all change when we begin to worry about survival. It hardens us. Makes us nonbelievers in enjoying our time. So naturally, we crave the days when we were innocent little babies because we know we can never go back. Back to that purity. Back to that curiosity. Life prohibits it. So what do we do? We spend our time thinking babies are the cutest things in the world. And where is the place to do that? YouTube.”
