LGBT Laughs: Dear Customer who stuck up for his little brother,

sweetupndown:

you thought I didn’t really notice. But I did. I wanted to high-five you. Yesterday I had a pair of brothers in my store. One was maybe between 15-17. He was a wrestler at the local high school. Kind of tall, stocky and handsome. He had a younger brother, who was maybe about 10-12 years old. The only way to describe him was scrawny, neat, and very clean for a boy his age. They were talking about finding a game for the younger one, and he was absolutely insisting it be one with a female character. I don’t know how many of y’all play games, but that isn’t exactly easy. Eventually, I helped the brothers pick a game called Mirror’s Edge. The youngest was pretty excited about the game, and then he specifically asked me.. “Do you have any girl color controllers?” I directed him to the only colored controllers we have which includes pink and purple ones. He grabbed the purple one, and informed me purple was his FAVORITE. The boys had been taking awhile, so their father eventually comes in. He see’s the game, and the controller, and starts in on the youngest about how he needs to pick something different. Something more manly. Something with guns and fighting, and certainly not a purple controller. He tries to convince him to get the new Zombie game “Dead Island.” and the little boy just stands there repeating “Dad, this is what I want, ok?” Eventually it turns into a full blown argument complete with Dad threatening to whoop his son if he doesn’t choose different items. That’s when big brother stepped in. He said to his Dad “It’s my money, it’s my gift to him, if it’s what he wants I’m getting it for him, and if your gonna hit anyone for it, it’s going to be me.” Dad just gives his oldest son a strong stern stare down, and then leaves the store. Little brother is crying quietly, I walk over and ruffle his hair (yes this happened all in front of me.) I say “I’m a girl, and I like the color blue, and I like shooting games. There’s nothing wrong with what you like. Even if it’s different than what people think you should.” I smile, he smiles back (my heart melts!) Big brother then leans down, kisses little brother on the head, and says “Don’t worry dude.” They check out and leave, and all I can think is how awesome big brother is, how sweet little brother is, and how Dad ought to be ashamed for trying to make his son any other way.

I have a nephew who prefers the colour pink over blue or any other ‘manly’ colours and I find that absolutely all right. If anyone tries to tell him that’s not okay his mum would give that person a piece of her mind and I would be right behind her, backing her up because he should not be made to feel bad just because he likes a certain colour.

On the radio last night a mother was telling us about her autistic 11-year-old son.

He was bored one day and wrote a 22-page proposal on how the US could be debt-free in four years.

Incredibly, it looks feasible.

He won’t send it to Obama. Why? “I’m going to be the first AUTISTIC president!” He GMH.

I was working at a table with an elderly lady at a local event.

An elderly man came up talked to her with a huge smile on his face.

Then he said to me “Oh, sorry let me introduce myself, I’m the luckiest man in the world, I’m married to this beautiful lady.”
Eternal love that never fades GMH.

Today, while in the parking lot at wal-mart I saw an old man helping his wife out of the car.

As soon as she put her feet on the ground he swooped her up and carried her all the way into the store.

People were clapping and smiling and some where even crying.

Love that outlives age GMH.

I cracked today.

I took all of my make-up, and wrote “YOU DON’T NEED THIS, YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL” with it on a wall at school.

I came back an hour later, and over 500 make-up items and mirrors were dumped below my mural.

So many girls believing in themselves GMH

Why I read GMH: it makes me smile.

Girls, and guys, you are all beautiful no matter what others say.

Today my daughter was told that because she is eight she she was too young to know what love was.

She replied that love was the look her dad gave me, the way he always ended our fights with a kiss and how my face lit up when I saw him.

Her dad died four years ago.

Holly, you do know love and you and your remarkable memory GMH.

I’ve been having suicidal thoughts since I was in 7th grade.

Last Thursday, my friends decided to make a secret event called Christine Is Awesome Day. A ton of people said nice things to me on Facebook & no one would tell me why.

I realize that they would care if I was gone. My friends GMH.

My friend was talking to a guy on the internet who started threatening that he would come to her house and hurt her.

She has 3 little brothers, all of whom slept on her floor and outside her door for a week with nerf guns and water guns to make their big sister feel safe.

I think my cousin is from a different time period.

I like to hope that it’s the future, because she sees the beauty in everyone.

She doesn’t care about skin, sexuality, or religion. To her, everyone is a person and everyone deserves a chance.

She’s 14. She GMH.

Today was the first time I felt pretty.

My hair wasn’t done, my make up was smeared, and one of the new pairs of pants I bought were too small.

I weigh 217 pounds, and I finally, some how, managed to be ok with it. I love myself, and I don’t even know why. I’m who I am.

Every woman is beautiful.

I am a 13 year old nerd.

I love my video games, and I love my sci-fi movies. I wear sweater vests and I’m not ashamed.

And I stand up against racists, sexists and homophobics. I get plenty of stares as if I’m crazy, but I’m proud of myself.

I’m different, and so are you. So stand out from the crowd and do your own dance. I’m proud of you.
